My duties as your MLA are varied and complex: My main function is to represent you, the constituents. My job, and that of my staff, is to provide you with a forum to air your views and concerns regarding the issues of the day. My office can also help you resolve problems with government agencies. However, you should exhaust available appeal processes (where appropriate) before contacting my office. For instance, if you have a case before the courts, our office must wait until a decision has been rendered before getting involved. All MLA offices are staffed by a Constituency Assistant (CA). My CA, April Anderson, is the person you will meet first if you come into my office. She also answers your phone calls and follows up on your concerns. April and I work closely together, and she acts on my behalf to serve Saskatoon Eastview constituents. Both April and I appreciate having the opportunity to help you, and we understand how confusing it can be to make sense of government related issues. In many cases, by the time you contact my office you have already exhausted all other avenues available to help you deal with a problem. We realize that your frustration level may be high, but we do ask that you respect our office as a harassment free environment. As your MLA, I am also expected to attend public and community events, and to meet with groups and organizations who have a concern to raise with the provincial government. These are great opportunities for me to find out what your views are, as individuals and as a community, on the issues of the day. My job is to take your views back to the larger caucus, to cabinet meetings, and into committee for discussion throughout the year. I endeavour to represent all Saskatoon Eastview constituents equally and fairly, regardless of political affiliation.
